Monday - Leaving Bishop for San Fran

As I left "The Pit" Monday morning, I made sure to take some pictures of the $2 campground. It truly is a pit. However, a pit surrounded by really pretty mountains! I'll look to get pictures up at some point - albeit probably when I get back.

The drive to San Francisco was rather long (7 hours?) as not all the passes were open yet, but it was a nice drive and a pretty one. California is certainly greener than NJ will be until the end of April. I wonder if the forsythia (sp?) will be blooming before I come back. Probably.

Spent most of yesterday evening simply driving around SF. I've forgotten how much I like the hills and tall trees that Atlanta had. And in some respects, it reminds me of that. Huh.

At the recommendation of a fellow I was bouldering with in Bishop, I set out to camp at a publich beach 7 miles south of Half Moon Bay. However, finding said pulloff (amongst 3) prooved more difficult that I expected and so I haded further south on my way to Big Basin state park (redwood trees). I wound up sleeping in the back of my car, which while cramped, was very dry as I came to appreciate in the wee hours as it started pouring!
